This drop front desk is truly an heirloom piece meant to be used and admired for generations. The upper case is dovetailed at all four corners which are visible from the top and sides as evidence of fine hand craftsmanship. The upper case sits on a stand with tapered legs which give this functional piece a sense of lightness. The front panel is built with breadboard ends to keep it flat while also allowing the wood to move with seasonal changes in humidity. When in use, the front is supported by the lopers which pull out on both sides of the lower drawers for support. The interior features four more small drawers with hand-cut dovetails and solid wood bottoms. The back of the piece is just as beautiful as the front and is made with a solid wood frame and panel. The finish is hand-rubbed oil varnish and wax. This desk can be customized in many ways to suit your space and needs and is also available in maple, walnut and ash.
