These hats were inspired by studying a Victorian Millinery Course book dating back to 1915. These hats are made using these same traditional millinery techniques in which the sinamay, stretched over a vintage wooden hat block forms the shape of the crown. The crown is then wired for strength and stability. The brim is made by hand forming the shape while the sinamay is being steamed and is also reinforced with a wire edge. I used sinamay for the brim for a transparent summer look as the fabric will allow air to flow through. These hats make a perfect accompaniment to a vintage wedding dress or as an accessory for a Victorian-Edwardian affair, special event, garden party or tea.
