This simple dresser was an exercise in subtle details. I used the darker makore wood to complement the warm cherry. I also employed a series of tricks, such as skewing the handles outward and alternating the grain direction on the drawer faces, to move the eye around the piece. All the drawers are made with hand-cut dovetails and have solid cedar bottoms. This is a good example of how a very simple design can be a charming piece of furniture to live with.
