Repurposing precious metals and gemstones is a major theme in my jewelry making process. One day while designing, I got to welding together metal scraps left over from my design process. The outcome, unique jewelry items that emphasize the value of recycling and reuse in jewelry-making. Each item that I create in in this style is literally like no other since each employs a unique variety of metal scrap pieces available to me at the time of its creation.
Within this style, I have created two engagement ring models using recycled silver and gold metal scraps. The first design is handcrafted from recycled silver and features a tapered band, while the second from recycled 14K gold metal scraps with a non-tapered band (same width all around). Each engagement ring features an 8X6mm center stone of 1 carat weight (a blue topaz for the first design and a citrine for the second) accented by a small 3pt conflict-free precious gemstone (a ruby in the first design and a diamond in the second).
There are many different ways to customize this engagement ring design. It can be created with silver, gold or platinum metal scraps (or a mixture of these metals) and with different shape, size or color gemstones. The price estimates below are for the existing models. Prices vary depending on the customization you choose.
