This BookRack design displays two distinct tiles, one set into each end-panel: A galleon under full sail, symbol of friendship and hope, and the poem…
Who hath a friend
with whom to share
Hath double cheer
and half of care
The ship and poem have been sculpted in relief from an early 20th-century tile in our collection. A translucent green glaze enhances the effect of light and shade to display a rolling ocean, full sun, streaming pennants and a low-flying seabird.
The BookRack is constructed of quarter-sawn white oak with dowel joinery and cast brass hardware. It is 71/2" high and 5" wide, and expands to hold from 17" to 34" of books. Hinged end-panels fold down for storage. Each Bookrack is entirely handmade and hand-finished in shellac.
