"Facets" Champleve Vessel Collection
Champleve vessel with vitreous enamel glass inlay, kiln fired on heavy gauge copper. 6.5" diameter by approximately 4.5" high.
The Champleve technique requires precision hand inlay of opaque vitreous enamel glass slurries into cells that are acid etched in heavy gauge metal substrate. The vivid, luminous pools of glass are achieved over many days of sequential, exactly timed kiln firings at approximately 1500 deg F.
The "Facets" vessel collection engages the lively planes of the vessel structure, the linear energies of the vertical ridges and the sparkling facets of the inlaid fired glass, evoking cabochons. This design is a copyrighted signature style of enamelist Barry Wechsler.
The vessel is heavy gauge copper and serves well as a decorative centerpiece or meditation vessel. The surrounding metal reserve is warm hued, enhancing the vibrant light blue of the glass inlay. The unique vessel structure and the offsetting qualities of the materials respond beautifully to a well chosen location and accent lighting. Cotton gloves are provided, to enable worry-free handling of the vessel without fingerprints.
