This is a Craftsman style table, more like rustic-chic, made from a reclaimed barn beam topped by a two inch thick burl of live-edge Maple. The table sits on a plinth of steel formed to echo the natural contours of the top. The understated decorative scrolls at the base are hand-forged steel
The beam is five-and-a-half inch square and bears the honest, rich character of reclaimed
barn wood - knots, marks, patina, whorls compose a distinctive surface. I have sanded it down, given the beam a flared bevel and finished it with both stain and polyurethane to both preserve its natural beauty while adding elements of style and fineness
The top is a solid burl of Hard Maple; its live-edged sides are smoothed to present end-grain perspectives. The natural cracks, knotting and patina on the top have been carefully preserved but also finely finished with a triple coat of indoor/outdoor polyurethane
The decorative scrolls and steel base are finished with beeswax and linseed oil to add protection and present a slightly reflective sheen
Works brilliantly as an Accent or Art table but also sits very attractively as a Sofa side Table.
I can offer this style in a lounge, bar or dining table too
