Made of Knotty Alder which is indigenous to the Pacific Northwest, the incredible grain, knots and rustic effects of this amazing wood has made it our #1 choice within our Mountain Elegance line of products. The metal straps are hand hammered, one at a time the old fashioned way, on an anvil, and the 1.25" square headed nails are hand struck into a pyramid shape so that no two are mantels are alike. Each Montana beam is individually cut, sized and distressed by hand, one at a time on the same workbench that we've been building mantels on for over 68 years. (I love this stuff...can you tell?)
