This stairway is one of two we built in a very remarkable house in Manchester, Massachusetts. The house is featured in the books "Inside the Not So Big House" and "Outside the Not So Big House" by Sarah Susanka. Two architectural themes evidenced throughout the house are represented in this stairway: a light, airy, see-through visual sense, and the theme of floating, seemingly unsupported masses. We worked with the owner and the architects to engineer the structural aspects necessary for this design. Other built-ins that we constructed in this house are displayed in the two books.
We also build more conventional stairways and balustrades.
