This block of wood was amazing free of major flaws for such a large piece of burl wood.
The bowl was turned on a lathe.
The fluting was cut by a semi-automated method.. It takes careful calculations to make the flutes come out even over the circumference of the bowl.
The natural voids in the burl wood were filled with powdered turquoise and sealed with super-glue.
We used our usual non-toxic finish to seal and protect the wood.
It can be used to serve food as well as using it as a decorative item.
