Furniture | Aspen-Leg Table
The table top was made from a remnant of a glue-lam beam. The legs are made from standing-dead aspen; these trees have been scoured by wind and snow, removing all the bark, and polishing the surface to a bone color, with streaks of orange and gray. I have carved the lower legs into squared forms. The legs have then been painted with watered-down acrylic paints, using an airbrush. The paint colors are sienas and umbers for the middle of the legs and black on the feet. The components of the table have been varnished, and the varnish has been rubbed with very light abrasives to produce a matte finish that best reveals the wood. There is a signature on the underside of the table.
