Sculpture - I Kai, The Sea
This sculpture is composed of a 6" x 6" fused glass square that is mounted in a copper frame. This is securely seated in a slate base and framed in mahogany. The overall dimensions of the sculpture are 8.5" H x 7.5" W x 4.5" D.
The rich, soothing colors are inspired by the traditional Hawaiian chant Ke Ao Nani- This Beautiful World. The verse that describes I Kai the sea, is home to the
endless journey of the fish. The rich aqua paired with vibrant cobalt and deep plum provide the rhythms of the waves accented with folds of soft lavender like caps on the waves. The deep jewel tones of the dichroic glass sparkle on a square of cobalt like the mysteries hidden in the deep.
This piece looks great on a desk top or table. The aqua, cobalt, lavender, and azure colors convey powerful, productive energy.
