Sculpture - I `Uka, The Mountains

The rich, vibrant colors of this table sculpture are inspired by the traditional Hawaiian chant Ke Ao Nani- This Beautiful World. The verse that describes I `Uka tells of the the strength of the trees that, nourished by the gentle rainfall, grow straight and tall as the slopes of the mountains rise high. In the upper corner is a lava red square with layers of dichroic glass in orange, copper, red and gold - a reminder that our island home is volcanic. This piece looks great on a desk top or table. The tomato, steel blue, amber, cobalt and midnight blue colors add energy to any space.
The sculpture is composed of a 6" x 6" fused glass square that is mounted in a copper frame. This is seated in a slate base and framed in mahogany. The overall dimensions of the sculpture are 8.5" H x 7.5" W x 4.5" D.
