Glass Top Lift-Top Coffee/ Dining Table
This custom designed Contemporary American Coffee table is solid 4/4 Sapele (in the mahogany family). The tabletop is made from interior marine grade, quarter-sawn sapele plywood, bordered by sapele lumber. The glass insert is 1/4 inch annealed glass. The interior walls and the drawer boxes are made from the sapele plywood edged in sapele lumber. The "floor" of the table box is 1/2" Baltic birch plywood.
The table is 62" long, 32 " wide, and 20" high when closed. The open table height is 271/2".
The table top simply lifts to open, legs fold down. Closing is the reverse.
The box-construction legs of solid sapele unscrew from the table and fit inside the corner compartments of the table for easy storing, moving, or shipping. Otherwise there is lots of storage inside.
The drawers are "push to open."
The drop down legs are hinged and snap into the closed position under the table top, and hide in the table when closed. With the drop legs down (optional) the table can support 175 pounds minimum.
The finish is Minwax Gunstock stain followed by wet-sanded Watco Danish Oil and Watco Satin Wax. The true color of the table is somewhat darker than these poorly lit photos.
