Fused Glass Wall Sconce - "Nymph" - Sold

Decorative wall mounted sconce featuring a fused glass face, supported by a machined aluminum base.

This piece has a lot going on within the composition - the face of the Goddess is a piece of glass that was painted with the eyes/nose/mouth and then fired to make the features permanent. The purple vertical stripes were achieved by carefully applying powdered glass to the vanilla base glass and firing to "set".

Once the base and face had been prepared, the rest of the composition was assembled... larger pieces of glass for the voluptuous hair, smaller glass pieces for her dress, and black powder for her wings. Pieces of thin purple glass were cut and ground into graduated circles to form her necklace... additional pieces of dichroic glass are added at each corner for some glitz. - to the kiln for the second firing!

The frame(also made by me) is machined aluminum to which I applied a textured paint, bronze metal coating, patinas and wax.

One 40W lamp supplies the light source; this fixture is for ambient lighting, and is great for a hallway or foyer.
