Famous Mid-Century designer George Nelson couch that had been broken at the back with upholstery damage. Steel base was in perfect shape as were all the back cushions and seat cushions had only stitching problems. Original leather from the back was used to repair all cushions. The back was not able to be salvaged in it's original form which was inherently weak to begin with. A completely new African Mahogany perimeter was attached to the base and 21 staves of quarter sawed old growth Douglas Fir faced with Mahogany were vacuum formed over a mold to create a new back more visibly attractive than the original and more comfortable.
