This project is based upon an early American piece of furniture built in the Connecticut river valley. It is a chest above and drawers below. Instead of using the traditional stenciling or carving for the panels in the top half, I used unstained multicolored exotic woods with exposed splines for accentuation. The frame consists of black walnut, the drawer fronts and large side panels are birch. The chest has a layer of aromatic cedar with a sliding drawer.
