Top notch work! I needed a keep sake box for a doll from the 1890s that was my Great Grandmother's. Phil did an awesome researching what wood would work, finish, etc., explaining why it was necessary to use very low acid type of wood and finish. Exceedingly knowledgeable about his craft, a true artisan and professional. Highly recommended!!
Simplicity in form and function mark this Shaker inspired hall bench. Approximately 48" long and 16" deep, this graceful and elegant bench is made of flame birch and mahogany. The combination of contrasting woods is the hallmark of Phil Rasmussen, the Mountain Woodworker.
Note: The flame birch used in this project is an exceptional piece of wood. Usually such highly figured wood is reserved for making veneer.
Other light colored woods include Bird's Eye Maple and Curly Maple.
