Hand Carved Teak

This table has some old and new mixed. The table top is hand carved teak wood from the area of northern India or Nepal. It is estimated that the table was carved in the late 1800's or early 1900's and the craftsmanship is exceptional. The table has been treated with a coat of quality wax and has that exotic finish that teak provides.

The legs were made from flat steel bar using a forge, anvil, hammer and vice in the shop. The lets are comprised of two pieces each and were attached together by punching a hole in the steel then enlarging the hole so a rivet would fit. The rivet was heated and hammered to make the two pieces fit tight together.

The table is approximately 26" high, 25" wide and 19" deep. It weighs approximately 25 pounds and includes a beveled glass top on the inset part of the table.

This table is one of a kind and cannot be duplicated because the hand carved teak is the only one the importer had.

We enjoyed working with the importer who represented to us the nature and age of the table top.
