Hand Hewn Mantel With Christmas Stocking Ironwork

This particular mantel beam came from a late 1800s vintage granary near Glencoe, Minnesota. We carefully took down the old building filled with old ax work and square nails. The original beams are always filthy, rough, and dirty.

We mention this in most of our posts, but imagine that these beams were trees cut down with an ax, then also squared by manual work with a broad ax or adz. This is a piece of history from when the main transportation was only horse and wagon. This is the real thing.

We sand our mantels just right to smooth out the "biters" but keep lots of character. We want people to run their hand across our mantels. We then apply a European hardwax oil finish.

The blacksmith work was done at WLB Blacksmith Shop in LeSueur, Minnesota. Wyatt always does nice, hand-hammered original work. This mantel has nice little support area for a Christmas stocking rod to slide into place. It can be used for decoration throughout the year, or it can be removed and put away.

This particular example mantel was 92 inches and priced out at out at about $1850

Most of our mantels run $135/LF - $150/LF for hand hewn mantel and $115/LF for circle sawn mantel.
Curved Corbels like this run $75 each; $150 for the pair
This particular ironwork design runs $675
Shipping runs $150to $250, depending on the size. Once we get to about 6 feet, they usually need to ship via Truck Freight ($250)

We have a wide selection of source beams available. Based on your size requirements, we can send photos of exact beams.
