Handcrafted Organic Cotton Quilts

I am part of a small group of quilters living and working in northeastern North Carolina with more than 50 years of sewing and quilting experience amongst us. Like so many other hobbies turned into small businesses we started making for family and friends and as interest grew decided to offer our quilts online. We use 100% certified organic cotton not only because it's Earth-friendly and healthier for little ones but also better for the farmers who grow it. The latter motivation is especially important to us because our ancestors were cotton and tobacco farmers in North Carolina dating back to the 19th century. Although our families no longer farm, elements of that culture still pervade our work ethic, particularly conservation, simplicity and craft.

The Process…

I use traditional quilting techniques to create modern designs inspired by classic quilt patterns re-imagined in scale and color. Each quilt top is cut, pieced, assembled and then densely quilted by machine. The quilting and the hand-sewn binding ensures that the quilt is securely bound and will withstand regular everyday use. Each quilt is then pre-washed and pre-shrunk giving it both a vintage appearance and a super soft feel.

The Materials…

After considerable research, sourcing and testing a variety of eco-friendly materials we settled on the four products (quilt top fabric, batting, flannel, and thread) currently used in each quilt. All the materials are sourced from American companies and our batting and flannel are made using American grown and processed cotton.

I use primarily solid colors because it allows the design savvy to easily imagine how these quilts might be used in their home or nursery. No competing patterns and simple clean lines make it nearly effortless to picture these designs in your space.
