Using reclaimed white oak and hand hewn surfaces to recreate the Western Montana sensibility, the Hellgate Bar quickly went from napkin drawings, to mock ups, then to problem solving and constructing. For visual and physical strength, timberframing elements are added throughout. Rusted steel panels give the look of age. A retrofitted inexpensive refrigerator was used to inset into the masonry. The frame is fitted to the unit and the door is fitted to the frame using ice box hardware. Hand forged latches and shop made persimmon handles act as the hardware for the cabinetry. .
