I received a bag of century old hand made lace bits that my great grandmother and great aunt toiled to make so delicately. I knew the best way to preserve and show these wonderful bits of history was to make the lace wearable once again, although not in the same way it would have been worn in the early 1900's. This particular piece struck me as a necklace. After sawing a frame out of silver I added silver button tabs to allow the lace to be removed for cleaning. I had a huge lemon quartz pear shape stone that just worked well in the center and the color is very close to the not-quite-white aged thread.
I created this piece to honor the very talented women of my family.
