Fireplace Mantel Of Two Joined Beams

The mantel shelf really has a nice flowing face. The sapwood (the wood just under the bark) meanders along the bottom edge, dodging the knots along the way.

Because a 4×6 is too small by most people's standards, we joined two beam together to achieve a nice 12 1/2 in depth.

This beam came from a turn-of-the-century barn near Afton, Minnesota.

We can cut this mantel down in length and reduce the price by $9.16 per inch, up to a $110 discount.
