Incredible Console Table Featuring Original Razor Blade Art
WOW...it's made of razor blades!!!
This is a typical reaction of patrons after having spent several minutes staring at my work and being informed that it is made out of Razor Blades!
This striking console / sofa table is totally unique. The contrast of vintage red cedar and freshly planed smoky pine combined with the red, white & blue americana themed Razor Blade Art, is sure to make a patriotic statement in your home or office. The dimensions are: L: 42" W: 13.5" H: 32". The table top and the collar are both made of mitered, reclaimed smoky white pine. The tabletop was then sealed with 3 coats of Polycrylic sealer to ensure durability. The legs are made from vintage 70+ year old red cedar from Alabama. 2 coats of cedar stain were hand applied for a lasting warmth. This sofa / console table will last a lifetime with very little maintenance.
The tabletop insert is a one-of-a-kind, hand signed piece of artwork from me, artist Ed Bennett. My unique medium of razor blades is the central focal point. Carefully oxidized and hand painted razor blades combine to form an abstract, metallic center piece. Made from hundreds of razor blades, the americana themed art will boldly represent your pride in the USA. A 3/16" piece of tempered hardboard (masonite) was used as the base for the artwork and is arched upward inside the table creating a dramatic effect. The masonite has 4 coats of gesso applied and all the razor blades are PERMANENTLY sealed to with acryllic artist's materials. The artwork is additionally sealed under a 3/16" piece of glass with clear caulk around the edges to provide a waterproof seal.
