This heavy all reclaimed solid wood and Steel Table/Desk was handmade by myself here in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Size is 28" width by 49" length by 30-1/2" in height.
Many years ago, I salvaged a couple of wood timbers from a dumpster outside a renovated warehouse here in Milwaukee's Third Ward. This timber joist, with beautiful, distressed historic markings, nail holes, bolt holes, and others, also has some of the original mill markings. Since the timber came out of a warehouse built at the turn of the century, and since the large timbers, originally framing the structures of these massive warehouses came from old growth forests in Northern Wisconsin, I estimate the timber age to be at least 300 years old!
This alone cannot compare to imported or corporate manufactured furniture.
The Table is heavy, strapped in steel at the table ends and at the bottom of the legs, was inspired by centuries old industrial workbenches no longer found. The hand applies finish includes multiple coats of Satin Polyurethane and a hand rubbed wax topping. The finish is clear and very smooth. This brings out the austere quality of the historic Douglas Fir. The Steel is also old and pitted with blackened finish and attached with blackened bolts and washers. Legs are removable for shipping and moving. The 3" wood top and timber legs makes this a heavy table approximately 120 pounds.
