These pieces are collaborations with an illustrator.
In the Asian-inspired piece we wanted to capture the elegance of a plum branch in an inlaid wall hanging. There are several versions, and each takes advantage of the unique properties of the wood, for a range of colors, textures, and in some cases natural bark sections. The woods used are curly maple, pink ivory (wood, not bone), black walnut & cherry for the frame.
In the Hummingbird piece, the inspirations were the hummingbird, the trumpet vine and Art Deco borders. The woods are sand dune cherry, ebony, pink ivory, lingnam vitae (the exotic green wood), tiger maple, osange orange and mahogany.
If you have a design you want to bring to life in wood I can create it! Also if you just have an idea we can go through a drafting process for design before we create it in wood. The frame itself can also be part of the art.
