Into the Sun
Village Cemetery Chapel
Meant to console the friends and family of the recently deceased, the window evokes a soul rising heavenward, though not alone: it is also accompanied by the spirit of those left behind, sitting in the chapel for the service. Hence the other brushstrokes.
Located just outside the village, the chapel sits in bucolic, rolling countryside. The peaceful setting invited an intimate response. For much of the year, during morning services, the leaded crystal prisms cast rainbows onto the walls and casket.
The composition features two layers of etched blown glass laminated to a third piece of clear tempered, with no use of glass paint.
