A jalousie pergola, the long side opens & closes like blinds.
The posts are imbedded 2ft. below ground, incased in 6x6 steel tubing imbedded in concrete, the posts are covered with butyl rubber, no rot.
It is entirely joined, (wooden pegs), the upper rail passes completely through the post, the lower one almost all the way through. The sides are notched in order to receive the ends of the rafters & the moving rafters have a 2 in. round nub on their ends in which a piece of round tubing is slipped over. (the nubs are not an attachment but are of the same stick)
I bought the gear box & chain sheave, forged the bracket that the box is mounted on, as well as the center hinges , chain pulls & pulley brackets.
I have since come up with an alternative method to the chain sheave mechanism that considerably simplifies things.
Dimensions: 20 ft. in length x 12 ft wide
