Keepsake Box For My Wife

This jewelry box was made to be given as a wedding gift. The image inlaid in the top is of Jesus Green in Cambridge. It was important to the couple because it is where their proposal took place.
The woods that were used included:
The box is made of walnut
The inlays were made of
Wenge – trees
Ebony – trees and the decorative "keys" that are used to reinforce the corners
Spalted maple – "leaves"
Maple burl – sky (there really is a bit)
Teak – grass
Walnut (crotch cut) – the dreaded path
Bolivian Rosewood – dark earth adjoining the path
The finish is Danish Oil and Renaissance Wax for a bit of glass and water protection.

I had this made for out first year anniversary. We were amazed by the intricacy of the woodwork. Dr. Chenoweth took a photo we sent him and turned it into a masterful interpretation. The choice of wood and finish made into a wonderful keepsake box that will become more beautiful with age. We love the smell and touch of the box as well - not only is the artwork unique but the different tones, grains of the wood make this one of a kind. Dr. Chenoweth was very professional and was pleasant to communicate with. He kept me involved throughout the process and when the project was complete it felt very personal.

Thank you so much for making our anniversary gift. We cherish it!
