Keepsake Box For My Wife
This jewelry box was made to be given as a wedding gift. The image inlaid in the top is of Jesus Green in Cambridge. It was important to the couple because it is where their proposal took place.
The woods that were used included:
The box is made of walnut
The inlays were made of
Wenge – trees
Ebony – trees and the decorative "keys" that are used to reinforce the corners
Spalted maple – "leaves"
Maple burl – sky (there really is a bit)
Teak – grass
Walnut (crotch cut) – the dreaded path
Bolivian Rosewood – dark earth adjoining the path
The finish is Danish Oil and Renaissance Wax for a bit of glass and water protection.
