Kitchen Island Table With Leaves
The island was modeled after a work bench. The client also requested leaves. Leaves are often left hanging off the ends of tables, but then you can't get your legs underneath. I opted for detachable leaves that would rest on extension arms when in use, but double as additional shelving when not in use. Efficiency is at a premium in NYC apartments. The leaves stay in position via strong magnets. Seats 4 - 6 people. All wood is reclaimed - yellow pine, water tower cedar, sapele, and regular old construction pine dug out of a dumpster. 36x24x36 w/o leaves. 48x24x36 w/leaves.
