If you're looking for the perfect blend of function and design--this custom made kitchen island (or butcher block) is it. Built by hand from recycled fishtail oak--an Asiatic hardwood with striking variations in color and grain, combined with steel accents--it's a durable, timeless piece.
I first came upon fishtail oak first in the industrial section of NW Portland. I soon realized that these greyed and weathered shipping containers, when finished, revealed the true nature of a unique wood with shades of chocolate, honey, rose, cinnamon, burgundy and copper.
