My original oil on metal 3D Koi fish painting on distressed brushed stainless steel panel. The piece features bold, expressive brushwork coupled with luscious, thick oil paint and thin translucent paint . When the light strikes the metal it creates a 3D effect. The koi fish literally looks as if it is swimming through light, and wants to jump of the metal canvas.
I have been a fine art painter for the better part of twenty years, creating art that is engaging, meaningful and beautiful at the same time. In recent years I have come to realize that there are very few new innovative and original paintings. Many are a variation on a theme that has been around for centuries.
For many years I too fell into that category. until I was able to brake that mold by creating paintings that look 3D as well as moving with the viewer and consistently changing with the lighting and the prospective of the viewer. Painting on metal as I do is very new and unique concept. This is an entirely new surface that is virtually indestructible and will outlast any canvas painting.
