Lady-Slipper Orchid Foyer Side Lite

Interior view of a side lite installed in an architect-designed residence in Iowa, opposite the Catlea windows shown in another project. This window design picked up on the owner's orchid-growing hobby by capitalizing on his pleasure in finding wild lady-slipper orchids. When we cut the mouth-blown German glass for these projects, we chose more intensely colored areas of each sheet of glass for this southern exposure, brightly lit window than for the northern-exposure stairwell windows. Careful glass selection enables us to use the same hues for differing light levels and ensure color match throughout the building. Note how the sunlight plays with the colors on the foyer wall.
