A while back, I was working on a project using Baltic Birch plywood. This is a plywood that has multple layers of high quality birch without flaws or voids and is used in fine cabinetry. I noticed that the plywood itself was pretty interesting when looking at it from the side, looking directly at the may layers. I gathered a few pieces, added some other pieces of oak, walnut and cherry and decided this was interesting enough to make a bench. And it turned out great.
Since then I have made many benches and coffee tables using this technique and this has become my most popular item. The most recent project was a pair of conference tables made in this style.
The tables are each 6' long and 4' wide. My customer put them together to make a single 12' long table. The result is beautiful!
