Large Arts & Crafts Bookcase - Greene And Greene Influenced
This shelving unit was custom made for an Arts and Crafts style chalet on shoreline Maine. The Greene and Greene cloud-lift pattern is used where ever possible.
The center shelves are moveable, held up by brass hardware. The top and bottom shelves are secured with double shims that pass through the exposed tenons.
The back is 1/4" white oak veneered plywood and serves to keep the unit square. It is set in a groove in the back surfaces that keeps it flush with the back.
The Rocller gel stain is almost indistinguishable from ammonia fuming. There are several coats of Tried and True polymerized linseed oil varnish. Liberon #0000 steel wool is rubbed between varnish coats to provide a deep sheen.
