The diamond (1.5 carat) used in the Layla ring was so unusual and beautiful. The style was an Emerald-cut but it is technically known as a Modified Brilliant because the dimensions were in-between an Asscher-cut and an Emerald-cut Diamond. I created an infinity shank to flank the ring and a frame of diamonds around the center stone. The accent diamonds were all pavé-set and the diamonds on the frame are graduated. The diamonds in the four corners of the frame are slightly larger than the rest as the size descends to accommodate the indented sides of the frame. I chose to give the frame a slightly indented and rounded appearance to match the fluidity of the infinity shank. The ring is in platinum with a "VAS Bijoux" stamp and a secret signature stone on the inside. Instead of a signature diamond, the groom chose a blue sapphire to protect his bride from the "evil eye". The bride's background is Middle Eastern and it is traditional to wear a blue amulet of some sort to protect the wearer from jealousy.
