The town of Perth, Ontario commissioned me to design and create a bronze portrait of famous show-jumper Big Ben and his rider Ian Millar. Since the customer wanted the horse in flight over a jump, we worked for some weeks to design a mounting system that would support a ton of bronze gracefully over a jump. I used small carved elements, combined them using Photoshop and renderings from Rhino 3D to accurately portray the look of the final project. After full sized model was roughed in, I brought in two of the finest equestrian artists in the area to make the sculpture look as much as possible like Big Ben.
