This finished live edge slab of Fijian Mahogany would be great as a writing desk, laptop desk, foyer table, occasional table, end table, side table, sofa table, console table, etc. I usually only work with native wood species, but happened across this gorgeous slab of wood (grown on a sustainable plantation) and knew I had to work with it to see the finished results. The insane amount of figuring in the wood grains creates visual textures and movement across the surface. Streaks of gold, browns and burnt reds dance across this flashy slab of natural wood. It was finished in a high gloss poly to enhance and embrace the natural dazzling features. The wood finish will protect the top from moisture, heat, scratches and daily usage. This piece has live edges on around 50% of each side ( not full natural edges along length portions). It's an extremely hard and dense tabletop/ desktop with an unusual bending shape (similar to a fish). The top rests on four raw steel hairpin legs that have been clear coated for protection and to prevent rust. The finished desk/ table measures approximately 35" l x 19" avg depth x 30 1/4" H. The slab of wood itself is a solid 2 1/4" thick. Most drying checks (cracks) were filled in with a tinted resin, but a couple were left exposed. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this piece, feel free to message me. Thanks!
