Live Edge Table

Working with the natural edge of a tree is a really cool look I'm always draw to.

The customer brought me a cedar stump that had the center rotted out of it and wanted to know what I could do to turn it into a table for them.

I planed and sized the top and bottom of the table flat to get rid of the chain saw marks, and then I inlaid a pc of walnut in the center to fill the rotted out spot.

When I cut the inlay I followed the growth ring of the stump to help the inlay blend into the table.

Figuring out a budget for live edge table is really tough because you never know what nature is going to provide, and where you are going to find an interesting piece of wood with the natural edge still on it.

Dimensions: This particular stump was about 36" at its widest point.
