I really enjoyed designing this stand up desk, TV stand and coffee table with my client and custom building them for his home. He came to me with a really nice design for a coffee table, and I built the coffee table similar to that design with a few modifications. The TV stand and stand up desk are designed from scratch with the coffee table in mind so the pieces form a cohesive group. The design process was a fun collaboration with a lot of careful thought to the details of the pieces.

The tops of the TV stand and desk, as well as the supports for the glass on the coffee table and one side of the TV stand, are all made from hard maple live edge slabs all from the same tree. The wood is really beautiful with lots of character, color variation and impressive figure. The bases/legs are made from carefully dyed and stained maple veneer over hardwood ply. I really think that juxtaposition of the very refined bases and the more wild slab wood, along with the glass and acrylic, makes for a fascinating contrast. The TV stand features a figured hard maple shelf designed for a nice sound bar and has a fingerduct trough installed to hide and organize all the cables from the TV and components.

The pieces are hand finished in multiple layers of oil polyurethane to highlight the figure of the wood and provide maximum protection.
