Lombardy Poplar

This amazing coffee table is very unique and stunningly beautiful. The table top is Lombardy Poplar and was cut from a 120+ year old tree in Italy 40 years ago. After arriving in Colorado 30 years ago, the slab was bought and stored in a Black Forest shed until I obtained it this year. Because of the protective nature in which the slab was stored over the years the thick beautiful bark is still completely intact and solid. The base came from the stump of a tree that stood in front of the El Paso Club in downtown Colorado Springs for decades before it was removed a few years ago. The table is 5 feet across, 17 inches high and weighs close to 500 lbs when assembled. This table was finished with a clear stain and 5 coats of polyurethane. The amazing grain accents and color variations in this 160 year old piece of wood have to be seen to be believed.
