" Loon's Summer Plumage" Platter

This Loon platter was published in Lark Book's "500 Animals in Clay: Contemporary Expressions of the Animal Form" pg 237. It is wheel-thrown porcelain clay, the loon hand sculpted in a very low, soft relief, covered in black slip and then carved to reveal the detail (a technique called sgraffito), then fired to 2243 degrees F.

Dimensions: 3" high by 13" in diameter.
