Lovely Carved Wood End Table Stack Laminated Ebony Ebonized Polished
I carved this end table from plywood I stacked and laminated (a fancy way of saying 'I glued up the pieces until I had enough material to carve a table!') a whole lot of good plywood to get the height I wanted for a standard end table, 23 inches tall and the table top is 19 by 10 inches, a very nice and usable size. A lot of different tools went in to shaping this, including several different carving heads on an angle grinder, and I used my bandsaw to get the wood to shape and to cut the carving out of the center. I then laboriously sanded with increasingly fine sandpaper to get the final shape. I ebonized the wood or put some ebony stain on it, which gives stacked and carved plywood a very interesting almost muted zebra stripe effect.
