From May-July of 2013, I worked for the Illinois Shakespeare Festival on their production of Macbeth. I worked exclusively on the three witches that torment Macbeth. The costume designer (Sandy Childers) needed these fine ladies to be distressed and grungy, so after building a lining and the outer, brown sheer fabric, I went about slicing each costume into strips and singing the edges with flame. Then I learned how to wool felt, which is where all of those great blue/grey textures come from.
The show was excellent and I hope to work with them again sometime!
