THIS APPARENTLY SIMPLE table is actually a study in balance, symmetry and proportion inspired by the furniture designs of George W. Maher, a noted American architect of the Prairie School. Maher was widely admired for houses that were remarkable for their open and flowing spaces graced with furniture fashioned from basic geometric shapes. A contemporary of Frank Lloyd Wright, Maher is considered by many architectural historians to have had as much, if not more, influence on 20the century American design as his more famous confederate.

The table is an example of simple geometric shapes assembled into a harmonious whole. Its thick 1-1/4" top is balanced by sturdy reverse-tapered legs that give it a look of stolidity. The ends of the table overhang 18" leaving diners at the head and foot of the table with something most dining tables do not have -- ample leg room. The wood used is carefully selected from the finest available hardwoods, including our extensive collection of native Nebraska woods.

The table is available in five standard wood species, red and white oak, mahogany, black walnut and American cherry.

CUSTOMIZATION: And, as is usual with our completely hand made furniture, you can customize it to fit your exact requirements with any size and combination of drawers and shelves that will fit into the case.

CRAFTSMANSHIP: Crafted with precession joinery typical of fine Arts and Crafts Period furnishings, it also includes the latest drawer tech­nol­o­gy. Our full extension under-mount glides are virtually invisible and make drawer operation smooth, safe and trouble-free. A self-close mechanism softly shuts the drawer for you and makes sure it stays closed. Each pair of slides is rated to hold 100 lbs.

Finished in our seventeen-step hand-applied finish using durable and nearly indestructible polyurethane, this is a piece designed and built to last many lifetimes with minimal care. We also offer custom finishes including hand-polished lacquer.
