Maple Armchair

This chair is based on an example in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. It was one of a set made for the family of John Hancock, the famous American patriot. The addition of the herringbone banding is my idea as well as some black string inlay in the front legs. There are four rosettes carved in the top and bottom corners of the chair back. There are also rosettes carved into the ends of the arm rests. The chair is made from hard maple which has some interesting grain complexity.

Dimensions: Height 34', Width 22", Depth 20"
