Maple Cookie Table & Chairs

This Maple table began its life as large 113 year old maple tree that the power company cut down a few miles my shop. After many hours of hard labor the logs were loaded by hand and taken to the local sawmill for the custom milling. By having these slabs cut horizontally (known as cookies or round slabs) it allows us to see all the growth rings of the tree.
After a long and carful drying process the wood was flattened to form a smooth even surface on both sides and then it was sanded to make it silky smooth and to reveal all the beauty that was formed inside this once towering tree. During the drying process a lark check (crack) developed which was filled with a custom steel inlay to add beauty and strength to the table top to insure years of enjoyment.
The Maple Cookie table ranges from 32-36" across the top; it stands 30" tall and sits on a steel base powder coated in a satin black finish. The pair of matching maple topped chairs sit on extra sturdy steel frame that are powder coated in black to match the table base perfectly.
