This custom-made chuppah provides a canopy of maple leaves that sparkle in the sunshine in an outdoor wedding. The border contains a joyful e. e. cummings poem, which begins: "i thank you god for most this amazing day: for the leaping greenly spirits of trees... and a blue true dream of sky; and for everything which is natural which is infinite which is yes." The batiking process for creating this chuppah included tracing and dipping real maple leaves of varying sizes in wax. The chuppah is made of silk.
"Our chuppah gave our ceremony magical splendor... Only Nahanni's inventive hand and imagination could have made a piece of cloth come alive with such meaning." --the bride and groom
A chuppah helps to create a special ceremonial space for the couple within the setting they have chosen for their wedding celebration. In this case, the maple leaf canopy provided intimate cover within the beautiful and expansive setting at the edge of Narraganset Bay.
