Master Bath

For this bath I was given a single directive, "Make it feel like a spa". After gutting the space I added a large bay window to capture the large ferns and redwoods in the yard. Above I added a skylight to saturate the main sink with northern light. The center space of the room was preserved to allow room for a visiting masseuse and massage table. All the woodwork, cabinets, crown moldings, doors and casings are bleached Cherry wood with a custom blended stain and lacquer finish. The effect of the bleaching and stain process creates a 'driftwood' appearance. The shower, watercloset, sinkbowls and floor tile accents are all sandblasted green glass. Glass with this finish is often found along the California coast. On the left side wall is a waterfall made with a large sheet of green glass that has been deep carved with a California woodland scene. The pool at the base is surrounded with creme marfil marble and filled with black Japanese river rock. The creme marfil marble floor is heated. The shower has an oversized rain head and a steam system. The marble tub deck extends into the shower creating a bench seat. The photo doesn't fully show that this bath has his and hers sinks and the water closet matches the shower glass surround and proportions. Room accent lighting is adjustable in all locations to set just the right mood.
